For the most part it was a relaxed weekend even though I did some running around. We got some stuff done, which was very good.
Saturday:
The day started very early for me with the Path to Membership class at church. It was an interesting experience and it really helped me figure out how my spirituality fit in with the UU principles. I feel better about being there and a little more comfortable, too. There were a couple of interesting "getting to know you" things we did and I actually enjoyed them a good deal. These weren't your usual rather empty and silly things that you might find at work or at school but actually had some meaning. It not only helped us to get to know each other and realize how diverse everyone's beliefs at the church can be, but also to help us sort out how our beliefs match up with the UU principles and to help us newbies figure out what sort of questions we might have. After the class I stayed and signe up as a member.
Then it was grocery shopping time. This was very welcome considering the very precarious financial situation the truck repairs had put us in and how bare the cupboards had gotten over the past week. I actually spent more than usual on groceries but part of this was so I could build up our reserves again after dipping into them quite heavily. I also ran into Shawn and Will and had a nice conversation with the two of them on the way out.
So I got home with groceries and eventually made the first fresh salads
painted_wolf and I had eaten in days, which was absolutely wonderful. In the effort to straighten up the house more and reduc clutter for my parents' potential visit (which again didn't happen), we realized we needed two more bookcses, so back into Plymouth we went to buy a couple. We returned home with Escape From LA (finally!) and the bookcases and I assembled them. We finaly put PW's sketch books and the remainder of our books and VHS tapes away, which was really great. It's nice to have a lot less clutter! This time filling the bookcases with books was a lot less hazardous that the previous experience. The only injury was that I stubbed my left pimky toe on the treadmil and peeled the toenail back halfway. Ouch!
Sunday:
My day started early again with church. The sermon was on the feminine divine and very enjoyable. We also had a guest flute trio perform musical interludes throughout the service. I wanted to stay for the Adult Education class on Wicca so I could learn more about it but without knowing whether my parents would actually come visit or not, I opted to get home as soon as possible. I stayed for a little while longer to help plant the daffodil bulbs and then went home.
When I arrived home to find out my parents hadn't called yet, I decided I would run some errands while we waited, so I made a dump run and then changed out the propane tanks when I got back. Still nothing, but Di had called and said she might stop in to visit later on in the night.
PW and I decided to put some photos in the photo albums we had bought weeks earlier at the thrift store. We ended up filling one album with photos from our trip to New Mexico. PW saw a few photos of her next to quantumswordsmn and kept pointing out how really, really short she is. I had to remind her that, while she was in fact short, quantumswordsmn is also quite tall. I filled another album with photos of quantumswordsman and me from our high school graduation. By the way quantumswordsmn, if you want copies I will gladly scan them in and put them up on my server for you to download! I also went through some other old photos my mom had given me a while back and found a photo of quantumswordsmn, nepenthe01, another friend and me from my 16th birthday. I may scan it and post it just so the three of us can have fun together seeing what we looked like 16 years ago. :)
After that we decided it was obvious neither my parents nor Di were coming to visit so we watched some Avengers (the old TV show, not the movie based on them).I <3 the original Mrs. Emma Peel. She's gorgeous and lethal!

Date: 2007-10-29 12:54 pm (UTC)From:I am jealous of you and all your insanely wonderful bookcase space. Oh, to have that much space for books, and not have them languishing in boxes! My poor books. :(
Also! I feel inspired. I think I might make you something, today, to kill time before I leave for the airport. :D

Date: 2007-10-29 01:33 pm (UTC)From:We'll see. It seems like I keep getting the same promise to come visit for the past few months and every time it ends up me calling to find out why no one is here and then it's the usual can't make it. I was actually so frustrated about it last night that I cried.
Someday you'll have room for all of your books to not be in boxes. I know it will happen. I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed for you and Al to find jobs and an apartment. :D
You're inspired to make me something? That's really sweet of you! ^_^
Which reminds me, I promised I would make something for you a while back but still haven't. I really need to get a sewing machine!
