The car died. Surprise. I knew today was too good to be true. I think its the fuel pump, but for a 20-year-old rust bucket Ford, I don't think I'm going to bother. I think its time I just go to a dealer and get a decent used car instead of picking up other peoples' 20-year-old junk.

I might get one or two problems from a dealer car but likely not a deluge of repairs. And if so, I've got lemon laws on my side (mind you that costs in legal fees, but...)
Carmax seems interesting. The nearest is CT so unfortunately that won't work for us, but thanks for the heads up! I'm not so worried about haggling. I've known enough used car salesmen to know that I have no problem making them work hard for their greedy commissions and overpriced sticker prices. They give themselves plenty of wiggle room in the hopes people won't haggle.
