I'm pumped for Ray's grand opening tomorrow! I can't wait to spend a day hanging out, gaming and helping Ray take care of the store while he runs tourneys and such.
I should be going to bed, but I've just been up transcribing tab for the bass lines in Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick." I've gotten about 4:05 into the 44:50 epic. Most of the beginning is very sparse and simple in 12/8. Around 3:30 into the piece it gets crazy on a c minor pattern switching between 6/8 and 2/4 as Tull is so fond of doing (much as in "For A Thousand Mothers" where they pulled a reverse Leonard Bernstein switching between 3/4 and 6/8). To play that part you really have to be up to snuff on your technique. It sounds like Jeffrey Hammond used a pick but of course I'm crazy-go-nuts and trying to get the precision rhythm playing fingerstyle. I may have to relent and play with a pick though I'm not as fond of that method.
I'll most likely share the tab thus far at some point, but for now I must sleep.
