Recently I was struck with how little baroque, classical and romantic music I've been listening to lately. This morning on the drive into work it dawned on me why this is: the majority of my collection from these periods is on vinyl or cassettes recorded from CDs I borrowed from the library when I was in junior high and high school. What few discs or mp3s I have are mostly guitar pieces that I've either studied or performed. On CD I have a disc of Vivaldi, a 2-disc set of J. S. Bach and a disc of the PSC Guitar Ensemble (which is actually a mixture of us performing classical and jazz). I'm not counting P. D. Q. Bach. :P

The other night I finally connected the "new" cassette deck we bought at a yard sale last year to the computer so I can start listening to tapes at home again. Maybe this weekend I'll hook up the phonograph to the computer so I can listen to vinyl again. It's been a couple of years since I had it hooked up. I never reconnected it after we moved. I also need to find a phonograph that will play 78s since some of my collection is on old 78s.

Oh! I can also listen to more Mahavishnu Orchestra if I hook the phonograph up, too! That settles it. The phonograph is on the to-do list this weekend.
