I don't have nearly enough info about myself out on the web already and the IRS tax forms just weren't enough to satiate my desire to answer tons of questions, so here's a survey courtesy of Marianne.

1.) Name: Jamie
2.) Age: 29
3.) Birthdate: September 23rd
4.) Hometown: Nashua
5.) Sign: Slow Children
6.) Occupation: I have two: Executive Director of a PEG access station and Web Developer/Hosting Sysadmin
7.) Pet Peeve: Poor spelling
8.) Fave foods: Tomato, Basil and Cheddar Omelets
9.) Fave colors: Blue
10.)Fave movie: So many, but up there are Office Space, Roger & Me, Fight Club, The Wall, The Rutles: All You Need is Cash...
11.) Fave day(s): Saturday
12.) Fave Animals: Dogs, turtles and crows
13.) Fave Holidays: Great New Moon (Cherokee New Year)
14.) Fave T.V. Shows: I don't watch TV muhc, but when I do it's usually WWE or MXC or the local news.

16.) Fave Actresses: Drew Barrymore, Catherine Zeta Jones, Jennifer Anniston
17.) Sweetest Gal: Kathy can be sweet sometimes...
18.) Fave bands/singers: Dream Theater, Yes, Jim's Big Ego, Never Say Never, Radiohead, KMFDM, Moonspell, Thragedium, so many more
19.) Best Friend: [livejournal.com profile] quantumswordsmn Anyone who will stick with me after over 20 years of my zaniness and stubborn persistence on inane ideas has to qualify as a best friend. Seriously. Besides he's there for eveything either to encourage me or let me know when I'm just plain being dumb.
20.) Fave Hangout: Not necessarily favorite but usual is the public library because that's where my "office" is.
21.) Fave sport(s): Hockey, eh.
22.) Fave Thing to do: Well, it usually involves two people, but sometimes it could involve more.
24.) My most embarassing moment was: Too many. There was the time in 8th grade when Jeff Saliga, Craig Michaud and I were having a quiet burping contest in English class and Ms. Lemay called on me to answer a question just as I was letting loose a huge belch. It was quite embarrasing.
25.) The wackiest thing I did as a kid, was: Too many. Maybe the time when Steve and I hiked out into the woods dressed in camouflage while a bunch of college kids near the tannery were throwing a party by bonfire. We yelled "Fuck Off!" at the top of our lungs. They started the ATVs. A chase ensued but we escaped.
26.) Have you ever had your heart broken?: More often than not.
27.) What are you wearing right now?: Begins with a "noth" and ends with an "ing".
28.) What is the meanest thing anyone has ever said to you?: "Do you like being disgusting?"
29.) Are you in a relationship right now? Yes.
30.) Pepsi or Coke? Water.
31.) Beach or Snow? Beach. I don't like being out in the cold.
32.) Rainy or Sunny? Both in balance, but I tend to enjoy the rain more.

Fun stuff:
41.) How old were you when you did the deed? 21
42.)Describe your first kiss? I got so excited I immediately professed my love even though we had only been "going out" for a couple days.
43.)Sexual preference? Mostly straight, but once in a while I see a guy and think...
46.)Name your first crush? Too far back to remember, honestly. I think it was a girl named Heather in 2nd grade.
47.)Name your first love? I wish I could remember.
48.)What would be your ideal date? Just about anything is fine by me. One that doen't suck and involves a lot of fun.
49.)Do you have a crush on someone now? Sure.
50.)Have you ever kissed someone of the same sex? Yes.
51.)Have you ever had a three-way? No.
52.)Have you called out another person's name during sex? No.
53.)What was the most times during the day that you had sex? 3
54.)Have you ever been tied up? Many times.
54a.)Who is the hottest person? Hotness is a state of mind and anyone can be hot, whether perpetually or in the moment.
54b.)Who is the cutest? Same as above.
54c.)Name five funny people and why?
   1. Matty O because he is.
   2. [livejournal.com profile] vireo_blues because she is outright zany at times. Oh how I miss the days of online chatting. :(
   3. Marianne because she posts some of the most genuinely funny daily aspects of her life.
   4. mc chris because he sings about Boba Fett all gangsta.
   5. Me. I make stupid things happen!
54d.)Name five people you can totally relate to?
   1. Kathy because we had so much in common growing up and I love her and we live together so it naturally happens.
   2. [livejournal.com profile] quantumswordsmn because over 20 years of hanging out together does that to people.
   3. [livejournal.com profile] nepenthe01 because we both escaped Nashua never to return.
   4. Corinacorina because she reminds me of my sister Jess and tends to have the same difficulties getting by in life as I do.
   5. Paul because we both seem to have that little hint of bitterness at being jaded by the same employer. And I'm his mom.
55.)Who is the ditziest? Yeah, I have to agree it's you, Marianne. Sorry! :(
56.)Who is the best singer? I haven't heard the singing voices of half the people who will be reading this! I would have to say James LaBrie. The man has a range like Freddie Mercury and uses it well.

When was the last time you...
57.)...took a shower? Yesterday morning
58.)...had a serious conversation? Yesterday afternoon
59.)...went to the mall? Thursday.
60.)...went to the movies? I tried a couple times over the past week to no avail. Most likely we'll be going tonight but last time was months ago.
61.)...smoked weed? Not directly but oh so many times have I been in the presence of those smoking it. Since I was a wee lad. That's probably why I don't do it.
62.)...got drunk? The weekend before my first senior year at PSU started.
64.)What are you doing? Filling out this long and tedious and boring survey.
65.)Are you lonely or content? Both and neither at times, but at the moment content.
66.) Are you listening to music? Radiohead - Pablo Honey

63.) Are you talking to anyone online? No, but Trillian is running.
67.) Who is your worst enemy? George W. Bush
68.) Who is your worst critic? I'm not sure I have a "worst critic." I can always trust Steve to be brutally honest when I'm doing something dumb, though. That's a good thing.
69.) What is your favorite perfume scent? Anything that smells nice and isn't applied in 55-gallon drums at a time.
70.) Favorite school subject? Music and math.
71.) Least favorite school subject? Phys Ed
72.) What are you wearing right now? Didn't we do this one already? It's still the equivalent to my entire collection of credit cards, which is non-existant.
73.) What is the first thing you think of when you wake up? Either "What a headache," or "Must make peepee."
74.) Name 3 things you'd like to be doing right now? Eat. Repartition my 9GB SCSI hard drive on the SE. Have sex.
75.) Do you have any regrets? Of course. Sometimes I even dwell on them. Sometimes I don't. Be like water.

And now to go on to typing an actual relevant post.

My Friday

It was a day of accomplishments. It was a day.

Now that Kathy has photo ID, we were able to oficially put her name on the PO Box and the savings account. That felt really good. I renewed the PO Box while at the post office. The tax returns came in as expected. Things were good.

I went to work and did a bunch of updates to the bulletin board. PowerPoint was doing the stupid edit mode over the running slide show again when I got in, which as far as I can figure has to do with low virtual memory because that's when it seems to happen.

Then I went to work at PDG and we started the process of moving clients over to our new server. We switched hosting facilities because a) we were tired of Plesk and not to fond of using Fedora on a hosting server (way too many frequent changes), b) our previous facility shut down our server due to the compromise but never even bothered to alert us and c) they provide absolutely no support for dedicated servers beyond reimaging. I spent a short amount of time reconfiguring the Gallery skin for one of our clients. The rest of my time was spent uplaoding and restoring databases, as well as reconfiguring online stores. Rox brought in a bunch of old computer stuff she didn't want any more and so I got another Mac serial cable, a SCSI cable, yet another AppleTalk box and a SCSI Zip drive. Yay! Now all the computers currently running in my apartment have zip drives. I'm not sure how exactly that's useful yet beyond enabling me to transfer files between my iMac and SE aside from the network, but I'm sure at some point it will be handy. What if the network fails, right?

I did laundry. Clean laundry is good. While at the laundry there was a Dukes of Hazzard marathon that began with a documentary on the show. That was fun. It occurs to me that I'm doing the whole Hemingway short sentence thing again. Sorry.

I installed the Seagate 9GB hard drive in the old Apple Hard Disk 20SC case, which felt good and geeky. I mean, to put a modern SCSI hard drive in place of an old 5.25" 20MB hard drive and then hook it up to a little SE is just plain, well, silly. I partitioned it using a patched version of Apple HD SC Setup 7.3.5 so it would be able to recognize and initialize a non-Apple drive. Apple recommends partitioning the drive into chunks at least 1MB smaller than 2GB due to a hard limitation with system 7.1 (doesn't sound like a "hard limitation" to me, but whatever). I did this, but I am having symptoms that indicate the partitions are too big. It tells me there isn't enough room to copy files even though there's plenty of room. And it's misreporting the partition size. I used 1024MB per GB, 1024 KB per MB. I wonder if they do everything in nice round numbers? That would be wrong but I've heard there's some inconsistency with older technology in that some manufacturers actually did make a MB 1000K, etc. I'll try something safe like 1GB chunks instead.

Kathy and I started watching "Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla" but I couldn't stop nodding off. It was 2AM after all. I have to admit I am feeling much better now that I have a new CPAP mask. And this one is so great! I don't have any of the leakage problems I had with my old mask. Very comfortable and effective. I've been waking up well rested again. This morning was uncomfortable, though, because I woke up bloated with gas. I chalk it up to my piss-poor eating habits as of late. I'm back to eating healthy from now on, especially where I no longer have an uphill battle against my metabolism due to poor sleeping conditions.

Peace out, yo. I'm off to cook some eggs, drink some water, chug some fiber and do something. Probably goof around with the SE before I have to go film the "welcome home troops" ceremony at the high school this afternoon.

Before I write about my fabulous day, I want to first share a couple photos of a priceless moment. Kathy nearly killed us. As we're driving over the Plymouth-Holderness bridge on NH-175A into Plymouth she starts yealling, "Oh my god! That's... Whoa! Oh my god!" So I start looking while I'm trying to drive. Then I see it. I had to share the photos.

Just in case you can't read what it says next to the tip, it says "CUNT". Classy. While the word is a bit inappropriate, I have to admit the image was a good chuckle. And the returning troops had to drive right over this bridge to get to their welcoming ceremony, so I like to think it was a good chuckle for them upon returning home from a pretty nasty situation.

I went to the homecoming ceremony to film it for PCC3. Kathy helped me out and got some good photos we're going to use for a photo montage at the beginning, middle and end of the video. I'm working on producing the montages tomorrow and selecting good music for them. Then on Monday morning I'll add them to the video and finish it up so it can air ASAP.

After that we dropped the equipment back at the center and went to dinner. The Italian Farmhouse was packed but still a good meal regardless. The whole restaurant is non-smoking so we had no problem eating in the bar. It turned out to be a nice intimate setting at a table just for two, even if a bit cramped. Kathy had the Herb Roasted Prime Rib and I had the Roasted Duck L'Orange. We both had a glass of wine with dinner. The artichoke appetizer was delicious. The sundried tomatoes were a nice touch. The house salad was ample enough for us to split and very tasty, too. Dinner was fantastic! The meats were very succulent and perfectly marinated. The wine was just sweet enough to compliment the meal. Pinot Grigio is still my favorite!

After that it was off to the movies. We saw Cursed first. It was good but not quite what we expected. It had some funny moments and had some good edge-of-the-seat moments. It had a cool retro feel (meaning back to 80s style horror films, not so much wayback to Lon Cheney days even though they do give props). I won't say too much more because I don't want to spoil it too much. It's certainly worth seeing, though. Hitch was hilarious! It was a fun movie and had some tear-jerker moments apparently because Kathy got misty-eyed. Certainly one of the more fun romantic comedies I've seen in a while. Wow. I'm completely unoriginal and bland because I keep using the word fun. That's no fun. :(

And I'm using after a lot, too. Boo me! I suck at reviews.

I repartitioned my SCSI drive on the SE. Everything's working fine now! It turns out that you have to initialize it first, then partition it, then restart and the computer not only mounts the main partition but then recognizes the others, realizes they aren't initialized, prompts you to initialize them and finally mounts them. So I have a couple 2GB (well, 2GB - 1MB) partitions, another a little over 1GB and yet another a little over 1.5GB. That should suffice. I'm mostly going to be saving utilities, games and other various files on it. I figure it won't be such a good idea to serve up mp3s from it since the AppleTalk network is slower than the rest of the network and the SE might have trouble keeping up with the demands of serving up audio on the fly.

And now to do some stuff and maybe sleep.
