I bumped into Jon and Zach at Chase Street Market today while grabbing some much needed lunch. I had a bit of a conversation with Jon. Zach didn't say anything but he had that look on his face like he really wasn't pleased to be in the same building as me. It's actually kinda frustrating because regardless of whatever tension may have existed when we worked together five years ago, I've gotten over it and I feel genuinely sorry it even existed in the first place. The problem is it seems like he has no interest in moving beyond that moment in time five years ago. I suppose I deserve it. I've held some pretty mean grudges in the past and to some degree still do. I guess it really sucks when you get placed on the other side of the fence.
Then again, I didn't really make much effort to speak to him. What can you say when the person you want to speak to is glaring at you like they wish your head would just explode so they could at least have some bright moment in their lunch hour? Oh well. Here's hoping that tension will one day dissipate and we can get to know each other again and have a laugh like we once did.
I'm looking forward to hanging out with Jon next Thursday when I go to Concord for my new CPAP mask. That is,provided he's available to hang out. If not, that's cool. Either way I'll get to hang out with Paul. Which reminds me, I should email him and let him know I have a definite time that I'm coming down.
Ray just left not too long ago. He, Kathy and I played a really long game of Lord of the Rings Risk. It's an interesting game. It has some of the same combat mechanics of the original but otherwise it has a different feel. Apparently you canplay it like traditional Risk but weplayed by the LotR rules. There's all kinds of weirdness with adventure cards and such, but I actually think I enjoy it a little more than the original. Kathy and I are borrowing it to try it again and get a better feel for it. He'll be coming back on Tuesday next week so we can all play
Power Grid. He's also looking to get a big game of
Twilight Imperium going on. Right now we have three players but if a couple other people are interested in coming up some weekend and joining in, that would be mega nypht.
That's right: I used an old-school slang from the college days. I rock, mofo! And I dare accuse another of living in the past...
