A Good Day

I had a great day today. It started with a little work but that wasn't a big deal. I just had to go in and fix a mistake I had made last night. Of course, in doing so I neglected to do something else I was supposed to and caused another faux pas later in the day, but it's all good.

We sent out the rent, so that was good. Paying rent is always a plus.

Then we went shopping for snacks and beverages for the day. We were good this time. I got the cheap Fruit2O knock-off stuff (which is actually just as good), some cheese chunks and grapes. Mmmm. Then we headed up to spend the day hanging out with Lonewolf, Seeker, Di and Star Horse. What a great time! Jerry and Shadow were happy to see us again, too, and wouldn't stop begging for pettings. And as usual all the excitement meant Jerry was soon servicing himself. Some things will never change. He's a special dog to be able to do that. :P

Lonewolf showed us his cabin which he spent a lot of time improving before they moved back in. It actually came out quite nice. His cabin, for those unfamiliar, is a very small log cabin that he built from the trees on the property himself. It has a dirt floor and no running water. There's no bathroom and the only other "room" is a sleeping loft in the peak of the roof. I wouldn't mind living in one myself, perhaps with a well, composting toilet and floor, though. For the longest time it had only a woodstove for heat and nothing else. This time he ran a phone line and power line up to it. He also installed a monitor heater, an industrial kitchen stove and a refrigerator. It was quite cozy! That's not where we did the hanging out, though. That's basically just the living quarters for the two guys and their dogs.

We spent the time hanging out in Star Horse's house on the same property. We ran out quick to grab Shaun of the Dead for viewing later. Then we played an interesting game with three decks of playing cards called Golf. It was quite fun! Half way through we stopped to eat. Lonewolf had cooked a delicious meal of turkey stuffed with potatoes and carrots, a stuffing on the side, homemade turkey gravy, thai sticky rice and coconut shrimp. MMMMMM! Muy delicioso! He sent us home with half the turkey because he still had a couple more huge turkeys in the freezer.

We watched Shaun of the Dead but it didn't seem to go over well with them. I guess the humor is a little more subtle than they prefer. That's pretty typical of Brit humor. All in all we hada great night! I can't wait to have them over our place so we can cook them a nice big meal and send them home with leftovers.

I should go to bed. Kathy has to open the laundry tomorrow, which means I have to be up at 5am to drive her up to Plymouth.

I am nerdier than 71% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

A few months ago when SSH was a daily routine and I was tinkering with FC2 and DamnSmallLinux, this would have been higher. Oh well. I've lost some of my nerdiness.
