Kathy and I watched the last three episodes of Doctor Who season 3 last night and all I can say is.... oh. my. stars. They were absolutely incredible!
I liked what they did with The Master. Yes, he died in the end. Kinda. They made it obvious that he may not be dead at the end, but he "died." And in doing so, he won because he left The Doctor as the only Time Lord in existence. What a right evil bastard! :D It was very interesting to see The Master hid away from the Time War the same way The Doctor hid away from the Family of Blood in "Human Nature." I would love to see them bring back The Rani, too, but somehow I doubt that will happen. The Rani was such an awesome and sorely underutilized character.
Captain Jack came back, too. *swoon* Martha had someone with whom to sympathize, too, because they both loved The Doctor and he didn't reciprocate with either of them. I loved it when Jack called The Doctor's latest regeneration cheeky! In the end they implied that Captain Jack later evolved into the Face of Bo by revealing that he had that nickname when he was a kid upon joining the Time Agency. I really like how they're building plot in the new series!
Sadly Martha is no longer a companion, but they've once again left an opening for her to come back. I wonder who the next companion will be? Or perhaps they'll have another of those rare moments when The Doctor travels alone? Maybe another android companion as happened once for two episodes? I doubt it. While originally the companions started as normal characters along for the ride, they quickly evolved into sex appeal. Most likely it'll be another cute female character.
All in all it was a splendid ending to the season!
