A couple weeks ago during the power outage [info]painted_wolf and I went to the University library. I sat down with a copy of Out and was pleasantly surprised to learn that Luscious Jackson had reunited. Yay! Since then I have been listening to Fever In, Fever Out a lot. This is perhaps one of my top ten favorite albums to come out of the nineties.

I was very surprised to find that they reunited to record a childrens album. That's very cool!

They did? Awesome. Wow, I haven't heard them in aaaaages. I'll have to give them a listen again, sometime.

What did you and Kathy think of The Prestige, btw? *is sad she wasn't there to watch it with you*

Well... if you would like... I could always use an "archive copy" of Fever In, Fever Out... *nudgenudgewinkwink* you know... if you're interested in holding on to said "archive copy"...

The Prestige was a really good movie. I really enjoyed the analogy of the two magicians mirroring the rivalry between Tesla and Edison.

The only fault I found with the analogy was that Angiere was made to seem like the Tesla mimic in the movie, but if you really understand Tesla and Edison, Angiere was more like Edison. Edison was obsessed with destroying Tesla and was better at presentation than actual scientific ability. Angiere was obsessed with destroying The Professor and was much better at presentation than actual magic ability.

They drew a parallel between Angiere and Tesla with the obsession. I think the analogy got a bit mixed up, but otherwise very apropos. Maybe they intendd the analogy that I identified above and made the one faux pas of linking Tesla's obsession with Angiere's... *shrugs*

Actually, I think the analogy still holds ... mostly because Tesla tried to discourage Angier, even though he knew he'd go ahead anyway.

And there -is- that part toward the end where Fallon tells Alfred "that's it, we're done" .... and Alfred goes to the show anyway...

So the analogy really could hold for either of them in the obsession way of things. :)

If you ever want to see it again, let me know and you're more than welcome to borrow my copy.

Hey Lee! Thanks for letting me know about your email. I added you to my Yahoo Messenger list, too.

I will email our phone number. By the way, painted_wolf is Kathy, so feel free to drop in on her LiveJournal, too!

Things are well here. Kathy's going back to school and I'm at the very least going full time at my current job soon. I will tell Kathy you say hello. :)
