Congratulations
quantumswordsmn and
chenoachem! For those who don't know,
chenoachem just gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this past Sunday. Welcome to the world Helena!
The Bronco died a couple weeks ago. Kathy and I spent a couple weeks without a vehicle and playing catch-as-catch-can getting rides from Lonewolf or spending nights at Melanie's apartment. Finally on Monday I signed the papers and drove of the Benson Auto lot in Franklin with a used 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 with extended cab. I don't have photos of the truck yet, but I did find a photo of one online that looks almost identical(same year and color, just a Z71 version of the model). The payments are a bit steep but otherwise I'm very happy. It is by far the nicest and newest vehicle I've ever owned. It's also the first time since my first car about 15 years ago since I've driven an insured vehicle. I would have preffered something more fuel efficient but we NEED 4-wheel-drive in Ellsworth and the coming winter means we have limited choices. 4WD vehicles are selling fast right now up here.

I've decided I am now going to follow suit with most fussy euro/designer board gamers and insist upon no open beverage containers at the table during a game. Recently a friend spilled a whole glass of water on the table while playing Carcassonne and ruined half the tiles. I have a new copy on order, but the old copy is still playable. Thankfully we weren't playing with any expansions at the time so I'll be able to keep those. The friend in question will get the old copy at no charge, but now the rule is in effect. NO DRINKS! Fortunately Carcassonne is relatively inexpensive ($25) but I shudder to think what it would have been like with a moderately priced game such as Ticket To Ride ($50) or a more expensive out-of-print game such as Die Macher ($200 - $300 on eBay with shipping). I guess this would be one of my few material weaknesses.
More to come soon, but I must work now.
