Well, for those who may have been trying to get to either my site or Kathy's site, you may have noticed you can't. That's because our server was hacked. Apparently it was compromised and used either as a bounce for DNS attacks or as a spam relay. We're not sure our hosting facility even really knows themselves. Regardless, we've restored from a disk image. Now begins the arduous process of recreating virtual hosts and uploading backup web files. Hooray for backup scripts! Boo hackers! I have to work on improving my security skills. I'm going to have to spend a great deal of time reviewing log files.

I have a feeling there was a vulnerability due to directory and file permissions from some of our open source web applications. Of course, this is all guessing since I haven't seen the log files yet, but that'smy first guess as to where potential vulnerabilities would lie.
