Have you ever had one of those moments that makes you feel like the biggest moron in the world? This morning is one of those moments for me.

That HP that I ranted about is not gone the way of the dodo. It is running just fine. The problem? Floppy in the drive.

To my credit, let me explain so I don't feel entirely stupid. The disk was black. When I first saw the error message, my immediate response was to hit the eject button on the floppy drive, but it reacted as though there was no disck and I did not see anything. Also the error message wasn't the usual "Non system disk" message you get when it's a floppy left in the drive. Oh well. I yanked off the faceplate for the PC and managed to get the floppy unstuck, so now it's running just fine. At worst I have a useless floppy, but I hardly ever use it so that's okay.

Okay, you can join me in saying it. "I'm so dumb!"

*cue spooky music*
And the HP rises from the dead, to re-assert itself in the household
*cue evil laughter*

lol, you know... my first thought was that there was a floppy in the drive, but I figured you knew what you were doing :p

don't feel too bad though; I had a tech come to my dorm room the other day only to tell me without looking at anything that my phone cord was plugged into my ethernet port and the cat5 was stuck in the phone jack :0

Yeah, I felt pretty dumb when I realized it was just a floppy.

Ironically enough, I got called by a former web client of mine to help one of their motel patrons who couldn't connect through their network. He had plugged his modem into the Ethernet jack in the wall. I told the owner of the motel to simply find the guy a proper CAT5 cable and plug it into the right port and everything should be fine.
