So it's confirmed: an official case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis in a bird from the town where I work. Which means now I have to wear full body covering and insect repellent. No DEET for me! I'll go with the oil of lemon eucalyptus instead, thanks.

Well, since it's been found in a bird, it means there are mosquitoes about carrying the disease since it's mosquito-bourne. And the disease is infectious to humans, as well. We've already had a handful of deaths this summer up here in New England due to EEE so we're all paranoid and on high alert.
