My future brother-in-law just called and gave me probably the awesomest news I've heard in a while. And it's confirmed, not just rumor!

That's right. Pink Floyd. Reunited. As in Gilmour, Waters, Mason, Wright (which is about as close as you can get to the original line-up considering Syd went nuts and swore off music completely). I am so pumped! I could be ninja, except I don't want to kill people and pop a 6' boner. Okay, maybe I just don't want to kill people. It's too early to tell.
Now if only I could get to Hyde Park in London on July 2. I would so be there.
Kathy and I are already having these crazy fantasies that maybe they'll pull a Spin Doctors and say, "Hey, we like playing together again. Let's tour and release a new album." Why not? Hell already froze over.
So beyond that, I don't want to be completely rude here. We had a wonderful weekend hanging out with family and gaming with friends.
I was a little put out that my mom asked us to come visit them in Nashua on Saturday and then made plans and pretty much skipped out shortly after we showed up. That's okay. We got to spend a little time with the parents. We went to visit Jess and Eduardo at their new place in Hudson. It's a nice step up from their cramped apartment in Nashua next to Holman Stadium. They're doing well. My new nephew is so cute and Dominek is just as funny and energetic as usual. We got to meet Pepito briefly when we showed up, too, but Eduardo mom was out at work.
Then we went to visit my other sister Cat. She's living with one of our cousins right now. My new niece is so tiny! She has some sort of disease thank to Cat's shithead boyfriend with the STDs. But otherwise they're doing well. Louis is growing up so fast! He's walking around now and can say some simple words like "kitty."
After that we went to visit Aunt Mary and Uncle Phil. As usual, I tried to give Uncle Phil a kiss but he wouldn't have any of that. He's a very old-fashioned man (he's getting to be in his 80s now if memory serves me correct) and guys just didn't do that when he was growing up. It's something I've been doing since I was a kid and we have fun with it. My Gram was there, too, as well as my cousins Jason, Patrick and Sarah. Jason was up celebrating his graduation from Harvard with his Masters in architecture. He's going to be working for a large Boston architecture firm starting soon. Pat's doing well. He's still living in Houston working for TI using that Masters in engineering. Sarah's still in school for her Masters in Boston and will also be working helping a girl with special needs. My Aunt Mary is getting around okay but now she has to keep the oxygen on all the time.
We went back to my parents for another small visit before heading over to game with Steve (
quantumswordsmn), Chenoa and Caleb (
kuantum_fizax). We played a FUDGE game by Grey Ghost Press called "Another Fine Mess." It wasn't too bad an adventure. We had a lot of fun with it. We're all in agreement that Caleb rocks as a ferret. And you know he's a good roleplayer when, after all that, he could say "I was just sitting there the whole time I was playing wishing my character would just shut up. He's so annoying!" So, yeah. Caleb was Reek Havoc, the ferret. Steve was Midnight, the horse. Kathy played Shadow, the cat. I played the only female character named Isabelle, the old bloodhound. Chenoa ran the adventure.
We got a somewhat late start after having a light pot-luck dinner and ended up playing until about 3:30 in the morning this morning. It was well worth it. A ton of fun was had, what with the ferret constantly going off on random tangents and collecting shiny things and trying all sorts of things like trying to unlock a knot with the Master's house key. Midnight did a lot of kicking and trampling. Isabelle did a lot of sniffing the trail and attempting to bite and knockdown. Isabelle even tried to bite a crotch once but failed miserably. Twice. In a row. Damn those FUDGE dice! Kathy couldn't keep her dice off the floor so she was mandated to use the box. She even lost a FUDGE die. Oh well, we'll find it within the next month while Steve and Chenoa are packing up to move to New Mexico.
Kathy and I had a very weird revelation this morning before we left Steve and Chenoa's. We realized we were so blessed to have such a good variety of interesting and impressive friends. You know: our friends the physicist, our other friend the chemist, our other friend the other physicist, our friend the ex-carnie, etc. We also realized last night could sound like a bad joke. "Well, these two physicists, a chemist, a cable access guy and the laundry lady got together for a game..."
Hey buddy, why the long face?
So anyway. If you're still reading this, you get 1,000 cool points because you are a real trooper to put up with my incessant rambling on. I applaud you! I think I'm going to stop now even though there's so much more I could write about.
Oh yeah! The airline tickets have been booked for our trip to Albuqurque, New Mexico! We're going the first week of August to help Steve and Chenoa move and to bring their cats with us. While there we're going to spend a day visiting Kathy's mom who lives down in Bayard, NM. We might even get Kenny to come down during that week and bring us down to her so we could have somewhat of a family half-reunion (since Kathy's sister Karen won't be there). Plus Kathy will get to meet her maternal grandfather for the first time in her life. Way cool.
Energy... waning... fingers... going... numb...
