I've been using Audioscrobbler for a few days now and I've finally listened to enough tracks to get some recommendations. Unfortunately, most of them are major label recommendations that I already listen to. Many are groups I used to listen to a lot and have tried to move past, not because they are bad but because I want to hear fresh and independent music.
Having said that, I found the recommendations to be spot on. I liked most of the stuff listed and een found a few new things to check out. There were even a couple of independent artists. Non-RIAA stuff is always appreciated because then I can buy it if I like it. Otherwise I either have to buy it used or "borrow an archival copy" from "unidentified sources" or friends. There are very few RIAA-member artists for whom I will break this rule, including Dream Theater and Yes.
So today I'm going to check out some of these new non-RIAA artists and I'll probably be letting you all know how they turn out.
