Something I did either Saturday or Sunday morning caused some back pains Sunday morning. It was weird. I woke up and it was fine. I sat down to check email and such and when I stood back up my back was in pain. Oh well, no biggie. It was a lovely day and I was looking forward to the first hike of the season. I wasn't about to let a little back pain stop me.
We hiked Old Bridle Trail up West Rattlesnake. It had been about ten years since last I made the hike. It felt good to get up there again. It's such a beautiful view and a nice, short hike. It was Steve, Chenoa, Eric (as in Big Dead) and me. We had some great conversation about all sorts of groovy things, including gaming, music, hiking, friends and Kathy's non-driving status. After a nice rest at the peak we hiked the Ridge Trail for a while and then back down the way we came.
The hiking seemed to help my back pain. That is, until I got out of the car after sitting for a while. I was in agony! But I had friends up visiting, including Eric who I hadn't seen in a long time, so I sucked it up. I only whined a little.
We had a tasty spaghetti dinner tomato sauce and sausage, bread and freshly-grated parmesan. And we had even more conversation about movies, comics, gaming, friends and Kathy's non-driving status. Eric was amused to find I still had a piece of furniture he gave me several years ago.
This morning I awoke with far less pain in my lower back but with sore quads. That's what I get for not keeping in shape over the winter and not stretching before the hike. In general, though, it felt great to be out hiking. I can't wait to do more!
So
quantumswordsmn gave me grief for not commenting in his blog over the past week. I didn't realize he had posted. I've added so many people to my friends list that it doesn't even catch all the posts anymore. I also noticed this when I went to
sambear's LJ and saw he had posted a few since the last one I read and I didn't even notice. I'm going to take
quantumswordsmn's advice and just bookmark all y'alls' blogs and visit them individually. Sounds like a plan. I'll do it now.
