Susan has been cleaned and restrung. It's so nice! For those not in the know, Susan is my Fender Stratocaster guitar. She was in serious need of TLC. Now she has new strings, cleaned-out electronics and a polished body. She sounds so wonderful. I opted for the Dean Markley Blue Steels once again. They used to be my preffered strings until I moved up here and couldn't find them. Thankfully the IRS and a trip to Nashua solved that issue. Yay! Now I only have to get a new saddle for Satan (my dreadnaught acoustic) and restring him. Then all will be right with the world.
Except the action is too high on Ozzy, my bass. But at least I boiled the strings a while back so things are a bit better with him.
I enjoyed playing Toon with Bill, Paula and Lonewolf so much I decided to run a one-shot at the PSU Gaming Club meeting last night. Natalie, Kirsten and Judy all played and we had a great time. The game was set in Los Tortillas, New Mexico, though it started on a freight train with two of the characters. The characters? A pink elephant with a deep hatred for bunnies named Pink, a partying lizard named Izzy and a bookworm with aspirations of eating her wy through the Library of Congress named Wendy.Their objective? Create mayhem as much as possible. And they did.
Pink and Izzy got into a little mischief on the train but not a whole heck of a lot. Pink found some stuffed bunnies and pulverized them. Izzy dyed half of Pink's tail bright green. Then they got off the train and bumped into Wendy, who took them to find eats. Izzy got sidetracked into the night club and found Trevor and Jose, known as the lounge singing creaturesof the night, "Los Vampiros." She slipped them each a mickey and wackines ensued. Pink and Wendy next door at the cafe heard the noise and decided to investigate. The vampires had a field day over the pink elephant. The night club incident ended with Izzy getting drunk and the trio heading off to find a motel while Trevor and Jose sat in awe of a balloon animal.
On the way they get sidetracked at the town library where Wendy feasts. Meanwhile a very large family of bunnies passes and Pink flips out, squishing bunnies left and right. Their mommy calls for help and the police come. The characters run to the motel.
They got sleep, but Pink awoke too soon to Izzy singing in her sleep. Pink finally got back to sleep and woke up Izzy with her incredibly loud snoring. So Izzy finished dying Pink's tail, this time purple. Then she went searching through her Bag of Many Things for clothing for Pink. She looked for pants and found army ants. She looked for a shirt and found dirt. Finally she found big clown shoes and put them on Pink, who never awoke the entire time this is happening.
They get upin the morning and Pink doesn't realize her appearance has changed until they're outside and people are laughing. She flicks a hair tie at the lizard, then throws her shoes at her. Wendy has figured out the next train out of town is headed for Washington, DC,so she climbs on to realize her dream of feasting at the Library of Congress. On the way they get into a little more mischief on the train involving bunnies and eating through crates of old books headed for the Library of Congress.
They get to Washington and end up at the Library of Congress. Pink decides instead to go swimming in the river where the dye washes off her tail. Inside Wendy eats her way through medieval manuscripts and Izzy wrotes all over everything with sidewalk chalk. The lights go out. Izzy knocks stuff over in the dark. The security guard comes to investigate.
Pink finds the local zoo, frees a lion as long as it promises to eat the annoying little lizard and finds the bunnies. She goes on a bunny-stomping rampage. She flees after squishing them all and hops on a boat headed away as alarms sound at the Library of Congress. That's all folks!
It was a great deal of fun. Toon is one of those games much like BSVGH that's very easy and fun to play so I don'tmind running it. It's really not that hard. The players really do all the work for you!
Now the GURPS horror based on Ray Bradbury? That scares me a bit...
