mandysee_mandydo: (weekend update)
This weekend was yet another excellent weekend!

Friday night [profile] ciliandis once again joined us for a sleepover (sorry again for the cot mishap!) After hanging out while [profile] painted_wolf played in Dan's Abberant game, we went back to our place and just did the hanging out thing. [profile] ciliandis shared some awesome music with us, including The Best of James Bond and Shivaree. While the two of them played played spider solitaire in character (OMGA was that hilarious) and painted_wolf nearly injured herself in the wonky chair, I worked on creating the Mrs. Peel Mix (probably one of two or more since I really need to make one with some Shivaree).

I picked songs that, while I don't think they all would be stuff Mrs. Peel would enjoy listening to, really fit her character (as in the lyrics seem to sing to or about her pesonality or history). The only exception is "On Her Majesty's Secret Service," which is only on there because it is from the Bond movie in which Diana Rigg appeared. The track list is as follows:

1. "Miss Emma Peel" - Dishwalla
2. "Die Another Day" - Madonna
3. "Respect" - Pink
4. "From My Own True Love (Lost At Sea)" - The Decemberists {Mr. Peter Peel was a pilot that went MIA}
5. "Kung Fu Fighting" - Carl Douglas {okay, this is just plain tongue in cheek since she was a martial arts expert}
6. "Anything But Ordinary" - Avril Lavigne
7. "Freeway - On The Road" - Danny Elfman {It just sounded like the kind of music that suited her driving style}
8. "He Wasn't" - Avril Lavigne {In a later episode of The New Avengers, she calls Steed and says she's divorced Mr. Peel}
9. "Take Five" - Dave Brubek Quartet {sophisticated and sexy, just like her}
10. "Independent Women" - Elbow
11. "You Got Another Thing Comin" - Judas Preist {Mrs. Peel inherited Knight Industries from her father and took over as CEO}
12. "You Don't Own Me" - Rasputina
13. Under The Gun" - Supreme Beings of Leisure
14. "Army of Me" - Bjork
15. "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" - The John Barry Orchestra

The next Mrs. Peel Mix will likely be more of a "stuff I think she might enjoy listening to" mix.

Saturday [profile] ciliandis and I went for a great morning walk and just talked about childhood and how some of those weird quirks we had as kids tend to resurface and we notice them and think "hey, I thought I was over that!" When we got back, I taught her how to play Milles Bornes and she completely whomped me. After that [profile] painted_wolf taught her how to play poker while I cooked everyone breakfast. Then all three of us ate and played poker (the two of them in character) and had a great time.

We eventually got ourselves ready to go out and went to return PW's overpriced Vertebrates text (which they promptly insisted we had to refund on the card with which we purchased it and wouldn't see the money for days, gee thanks). Afterward we went to the dollar store and found all kinds of groovy things, then to WalMart to goof off and get a couple of things and finally to Hannaford to buy food for dinner.

We had a wonderful meal of tacos and nachos. Okay, sure it wasn't the healthiest of meals, but it had been soooo long since I had either and we mentioned it while shopping and immediately we all realized how tasty it seemed. We ate our tacos and nachos and watched Rent which was amazing. I loved it! And I wept like mad, especially toward the end. Angel is awesome! Joanne was really cool, too. :) Afterward we drove [profile] ciliandis back to Plymouth to get her car and go home.

Today was a very fruitful day. I went to church, participated in the discussion and vote on the capital campaign and then returned home for my walk. PW was upwhen I got back so we went for a walk together in the falling snow, which was actually quite nice. When we returned home I had lunch and we got right to task making our lists of what we each wanted in a wedding, compared our notes, listed what we agreed on and what we still needed to decide and started drafting a potential guest list.

So far we've agreed that the ceremony will be quick and semi-formal with a party-like reception to follow. PW will not be wearing a dress. There will be no alcohol at the reception for a couple of reasons (mostly out of respect and concern for her family). We will have disposable cameras at the ceremony and reception for guests to use to take photos of the whole affair for us from their perspective (we got this idea after attending the wedding of our friends Di and Deb). We will write our own vows and the ceremony will have little or no religious content. Any spirituality present in the service will be limited to that of the traditional Tsalagi beliefs of PW's ancestors. We will be taking a honeymoon that will involve time spent with nature. Our guest list will be very small and intimate and pretty much restricted to just parents, siblings, my grandparents and a few close friends. The hardest part of this is deciding which friends to invite and not. We still have a lot of questions to answer regarding date (likely between March 1 and July 1 of this year), where it will be, details of the ceremony, what we'll have for food and entertainment at the reception, what we want to do for a honeymoon, and whether or not we'll even be doing the ceremony this year or just going to a JP and doing the ceremony later on an anniversary when we can afford it better.

Yes it is from said movie! I haven't seen it yet but I do want to at some point.

I would love to go to the wedding but I want you to not feel pressured to invite me just tell me when it is so I can send something to you!

We'll see what happens. Right now we're just exploring our options regarding the ceremony and everything. The most likely scenario is that we just go to a JP and get legally married now and then worry about the rest later.

We did the camera thing too. It was neat to see the pictures. Some of them were really nice. We even kept all of Kathy's crazy closeup shots she took.

I don't know how stressful the semester is, but do you think you might wait to get married until classes are done?

That's right! You and Steve did the camera thing, too! See what I mean about flaky memory? :P

That's another reason we may just do the JP thing now and then have the ceremony later. Considering how informal a service and reception we're considering, I doubt it would be too much to plan it while classes are in session. Ultimately the marriage is more a function of us doing what we need to get PW medical treatment she needs and taking care of certain things we want to do before my own medical needs prevent us from doing certain things.

In short, I agree that classes are a consideration in whether or not we have the ceremony, reception and honeymoon now or later. The actual legal marriage will happen regardless, though.
