Boiling Boiling Boiling

I'm really getting obsessed with boiled dinners.

Well, I've always enjoyed them, but growing up my parents just couldn't afford to shell out the cash for that kind of meal, not even once in a while. We would usually have a boiled dinner when we went to my grandparents for Easter. That's probably part of the appeal for me. Granted, boiled corned beef dinners are extremely tasty, but also I have that whole fond childhood memory attached to them.

Right now I'm cooking my first boiled ham dinner. Mostly I want to try it after Lonewolf told me about how his came out. Also he let me have some of the pea soup he made from the leftovers. I'm looking forward to doing the same after this meal. He got the recipe from The Joy of Cooking, which fortunately Kathy and I also have thanks to her mom. It was the most delicious pea soup with ham I have ever had!

So yummy smells right now are floating around the apartment and I am euphoric.

Also, Happy Mothers' Day to all you mothers who are reading this right now! I know there are at least a couple or a few, such as thelittlebeast, poetinme, corinacorina, Mrs_Mouse and Candace.

Mothers are awesome people. They have the power to give life and they aren't afraid to use it. But seriously, the whole act of giving birth is an incredible process that is very intense and tiring. I have to give mothers credit for going hrough the pain and then another 18 years of raising a child. That's a wonderful feat of dedication and unconditional love. I can only hope that when my chance to be a father comes that I can be as good as possible to the mother of my children and my children, because it truly is a miracle that brings them into this world. It would be a dishonor to them to be anything less than my best.

I only wish I had been more respectful as a child.
