Strange Days
Mar. 30th, 2005 07:58 pmI started the day with a soft whisper to Kathy. "Good Morning. I love you." The rest of the world was not so lucky. My first word out loud uttered to the surrounding world this morning was, "SHIT!!"
The van has been a hard start for a while. I knew the starter was going. I procrastinated. This morning it was yet again a hard start. I kept trying and it cranked until...
Dead. No turning over. Nothing. I turn the key and nothing happens. I open the hood and I get a whiff of the distinct aroma of fried electric motor. I killed my starter.
Karen was kind and picked me up for work. Matt was also very kind and loaned me his car for the night and tomorrow morning. I am extremely grateful for good friends.
So I was dressed up and looking handsome for work. I left for the couple hours between work and the board meeting to get a head start on repairs. I threw on some sweats, jacked up the van, broke out the tools and yanked the starter. I was covered in grease and mud. I jumped in the shower and got out just in time to head back to town all handsome again for the board meeting. This time with a nasty little gash in my left index finger.
The board meeting was a lengthy one but it's done now. I'm waiting for some yummy salmon and squash for dinner. Yay!
It looks like the good deal on that Chevy Cavalier has been missed. I noticed the car wasn't out again today. Bummer. There's a Chevy Blazer down the road for $750, though, so that may be a possibility.
So if any of you are interested in some good indie music, there's a good California band playing in New England. I caught these guys at PSU a little while back and highly recommed them. ViV will be at:
