I just wanted to share this interesting quote. It's an excerpt from Thompson's "Kingdom of Fear, Loathsome Secrets of a Star-Crossed Child in the Final Days of the American Century":

"See you tomorrow, folks. You haven't heard the last of me. I am the one who speaks for the spirit of freedom and decency in you. Shit. Somebody has to do it. We have become a Nazi monster in the eyes of the whole world, a nation of bullies and bastards who would rather kill than live peacefully. We are not just Whores for power and oil, but killer whores with hate and fear in our hearts. We are human scum, and that is how history will judge us . . . No redeeming social value. Just whores. Get out of our way, or we'll kill you...Who does vote for these dishonest shitheads? Who among us can be happy and proud of having all this innocent blood on our hands? Who are these swine? These flag-sucking half-wits who get fleeced and fooled by stupid little rich kids like George Bush? They are the same ones who wanted to have Muhammad Ali locked up for refusing to kill gooks. They speak for all that is cruel and stupid and vicious in the American character. They are the racists and hate mongers among us they are the Ku Klux Klan. I piss down the throats of these Nazis. And I am too old to worry about whether they like it or not. Fuck them."

I promise a regular post tomorrow. Lots to write about just not much time this morning. Cool stuff about games and Mac networking and new books.

I've seen this meme a couple times now so I figure I'll do it, too. I can't promise anything as exciting or interesting as others, but that's me.

Ten things I've done that you probably haven't:
1. Survived spinal meningitis at age 4.
2. Successfully networked a Windows XP computer, 333MHz iMac, Macintosh SE FDHD, PowerBook Duo 250 and PC running DamnSmallLinux on a mixed LocalTalk & 10BaseT network bridged by a Cayman Gatorbox CS.
3. Met the members of Suicidal Tendencies and watched them perform from backstage. Robert Trujillo (now Ozzy's bassist) was an awesome guy. They even autographed my jersey!
4. Navigated a Cessna from Boire Field in Nashua to Plum Island and piloted it back.
5. Taught myself to speak Cherokee (ditsalagi), though not quite fluent yet.
6. Performed with a rock band playing guitar and singing in a caged trailer on the back of a pickup truck at a county fair in Vermont.
7. Nearly smashed my guitar on the mainstage at the same county fair in Vermont wearing a dress shirt, denim shorts, hot pink tie and suspenders. I'm not making this up.
8. Campaigned for both the Republican and Democrat Senatorial candidates in the same election for extra credit in high school. Even got a free dinner out of it at the High 5 in Manchester.
9. Provided live musical accompaniment to role-playing games, board games and LARPs.
10. And since these invariably involve some sort of risque sexual act, I will share one: had sex at a local natural attraction just off the hiking trail. Yeah, not as exciting as others I've read but I guess some would probably think it's shocking.
