I was most assuredly not bored. I most assuredly had a fun day in spite of being alone for half of it. I started the day with dropping [profile] painted_wolf off at work and then going out for breakfast at Annie's Overflow Restaurant. There's actually an interesting story behind this local diner. On Route 175A in Holderness just before the bridge into Plymouth there used to be two restaurants: Riverside Diner was the larger of the two and a local favorite for breakfast and lunch, and Annie's Overflow which was a tiny place in an old house across the street that used to take in all the hungry customers that couldn't find a seat at the Riverside. The Overflow also had its own loyal customers, too. The Riverside changed owners a couple of times due to deaths or other problems and by the time the state eminent domained the Overflow to build the new bridge, the Riverside had just closed its doors for ever. That's when Annie's Overflow, the little diner that used to catch the Riverside's unseated, bought the Riverside property and moved in. The place that often ended up the backup became the one and only. I just think that's a great story! The food is wonderful and I prefer the Overflow to the Riverside any day.

After breakfast I decided I would escape student move-in day in Plymouth and go north to Lincoln for mini golf. On the way, something interesting happened. At around 10:15 am I was driving north on I-93 and arrived around mile marker 95. That was where the moderately packed traffic came to a sudden stop from traveling at or around speed limit (65 mph). I though to myself there muyst have just been a horrible accident and was beginning to get worried. But no, there was no accident. It was some over-ambitious, idiot NH State Trooper standing IN THE MIDDLE of the northbound lanes of traffic flagging down speeders. IN THE MIDDLE of traffic! Because of his zealous behavior several vehicles had to swerve into the shoulders to avoid colliding with the vehicles in front of them. I was fortunate to have good brakes and pay plenty of attention while driving or I would have completely mangled the three motorcyclists in front of me. There's a difference between preserving and endangering public safety. This officer obviously had no clue of this and was doing everything he could to endanger the safety of at least two dozen motorists to catch one speeding motorists.

I got to Hobo Hills and started playing a round of mini golf despite the Labor Day congestion on the course. It was actually pleasant being a little crowded because I got to pretty much play along with the family ahead of me and we all had fun together watching each other play and encouraging each other. About half-way through the course I got to watch a duck about two feet away fro me eating fruits that had fallen from a tree. I got a hole-in-one on hole 5. Hobo Hills, being a Pirate's Cove chain course, does the mystery hole contest where you can win a free game if you get a hole in one on the right hole. Well, since I got a hole in one on hole 5, I had to reach into a bucket of ping-pong balls and pull out the one marked 5 to get a free game. I did! So now I have a token for one free game at Hobo Hills. :D

I was going to play another round but by the the course was even more crowded and it was getting near lunch time. I figured I would go eat lunch and come back, but first I was going to look at prices for the Hobo Railroad. As if I wasn't already gathering "PW's gonna kill me" points by playing mini golf without her, I ended up going for a train ride without her, too. She had been asking all summer and we just never had the time or money. There I was with the money for lunch and another round of golf and wouldn't you know it but the train ride with picnic lunch was just a couple dollars more that what I would have spent anyway, so... I did it. I had five hours to go until PW was done with work, I was in search of something fun to occupy my time and something to eat, and Hobo Railroad was the solution. I felt a little guilty but not too bad since they run the train Until October 21 so there's ample opportunity for us both to go.

The train ride was nice and the lunch was tasty. I'm pretty sure the Conductor thought I was gay because I was weraing nail polish and I'm pretty sure he was uncomfortable with it and making remarks to the attendants, but I didn't care. I was having fun riding the train. :P We passed the Cafe Lafeyette train twice and I got to see the inside on the train cars. They were so beuatiful! I must ride the Cafe Lafeyette train at some point. It's just a bit too expensive, though, since it's a long, scenic trip with a five course meal.

When the train returned to the station I went on my way back south to Plymouth. The idiot State Trooper was still out endangering public safety and this time he had a friend. I got in town, did some goofing off online and then went to meet PW, who shared her day's events and proceeded to give me the "I'm so gonna kill you" look when I shared mine. I told her about Balls of Fury and that [profile] ciliandis was coming to join us so it got better quick. We goofed off some more online until [profile] ciliandis arrived, at which point we went to see Balls of Fury.

Balls of Fury is absolutely hilarious. If you can get to the theater to see it, please do! I won't spoil it but it was great. We were laughing hysterically out loud through the whole movie, as was most of the theater. After the movie we went to PHOP for dinner, where we couldn't help but all talk like Christopher Walken. [profile] ciliandis even ordered in her awesome Walken voice and we made her crack up because of it. At one point PW made her snort her coffee. We spent the whole time laughing and joking and talking Walken and Evil Dead. [profile] ciliandis also showed us her Necronomicon she made for her Halloween costume. It was amazing! She did a great job of making it look so much like the "real" thing both inside and out.

After dinner we went to wander WalMart for a while and before leaving purchased a few rafle tickets for a laptop. The proceeds benefit CHAD and so we helped a good cause while also trying to win a decent laptop. If one of us wins, it will be good. [profile] ciliandis could use a new computer since hers are all wonky and PW could use a new laptop for school. If I win that laptop is going to PW, so she has some decent odds. It didn't look like there were many tickets in the small jug, but who knows if they've filled it a few times before or not.
The drawing is tomorrow so we'll know soon enough if we've won.

We went to the common to hang out for an hour before [profile] ciliandis went home. We listened to a few songs from Evil Dead: The Musical and it was so freaking funny. We also shared some Jim's Big Ego with [profile] ciliandis since she had been wanting to hear more. We played most of Don't Get Smart for her.
