Sunday was a glorious day well spent with
ciliandis and her friend Bonnie! It was great to spend time with
ciliandis again and wonderful to meet someone new.
When we all figured out what we were doing, we piled into
ciliandis ' car and started driving. On the way she decided to turn on the AC and rolled up the windows, much to
painted_wolf 's dismay. She was enjoying sticking her head out the window. So pw did the pouty face with the puppy eyes and we mocked her. And then I mentioned we were going to have fun with pirate mini golf. "Kathy... Pirate Balls!" That killed the pouty face real quick and we all burst into laughter.
We started by going to Pirate's Cove to play mini -- excuse me, "adventure" golf -- and hilarity ensued.
painted_wolf and Bonnie had the occasional swashbuckle with golf clubs and there was lots of knocking around each others' balls to gain an advantage, though it mostly involved trying to disadvantage
painted_wolf . She won anyway.
ciliandis and I shared the shame of being suckiest golf pirates of the day but at least I was in good company. Yay! ^_^
Next it was a trip to Dairy Queen where
ciliandis treated us all to Blizzards. Mmmm, yummy! We all traded bites of our Blizzards with each other. I got banana cream pie and it actually had chunks of real banana in it. :)
Then we all drove together in one car to Tilton to browse the outlet stores. Mosty we needed to find a new wine opener thingy for
ciliandis for work, so we stopped at the kitchen store first. Then we poked around in the party supply store and bought some yummy lollipops. We ended the trip in the toy store where battles with foam swords and
painted_wolf hunting me with one of those foam-dart guns (thanks far-too-helpful-for-my-good clerk!) and me trying to disguise myself with a far too small sequined flapper dress (well, mostly I used it as a shield).
Then we brwosed around Staples across the street. Oooooh, office supplies! And I found this metal case with pink leopard skin fur sides which was really obnoxious and really cool and I want it. Ummm... what else... There was all kinds of cool stuff (yeah, we're geeks and we like office supplies) including some really nice journals. Next time I need a journal I think we shall go there. They had a couple that were pseudo-suede covered with these nice inlay patterns in crimson or charcoal. Very nice!
We decided to stop at Payless but by then they were closed, so we walked around WalMart instead. After a while we decided we were hungry so we went to the registers with our purchases (where the clerk proceeded to rip ciliandis off for a pocket watch that was supposed to be on clearance). Then we went to BK for a cheap meal and to sit on the lakeside patio. We had fun watching the ducks and gulls while we ate. Then there was this influx of teens suddenly surrounding us. It wasn't like some sporting event let out and they all came in a bus or something. It was one group showed up in a car, then another and another and another until we were swarmed. That was when we decided to leave.
We brought Bonnie back to her car and the three of us decided to go watch movies at
ciliandis ' house. First we watched "Destiony Turns On The Radio." It was a fun, cheesy movie which did an decent job of portraying the coyote spirit in Johnny Destiny. It was definitely a fun movie and I think of all the characters I liked Thurlow the best.
Then we watched "A Series of Unfortunate Events" with the absolutely hilarious commentary by Lemony Snicket and the director. If you haven't watched the DVD with commentary you should. The director continuously lies to Snicket about what they did with the movie and Snicket continuously rips the movie and director apart. And there's even accordion music!
By that time we were all getting sleepy so
ciliandis sent us on our way with some more Snicket to read and some beverage to help us stay awake on the drive home. It was a swellegant day!
