mandysee_mandydo | Transformers and Unfortunate Events

painted_wolf and I went to see "Transformers" last night. I admit that I had little or no desire to see the film, but after a few friends all raved about it I gave in and saw it. I will say I'm glad I went! It wasn't a great movie in the sense that it had awesome plot and character development. It was purely a geek effects movie. I doubt it would have quite the same appeal on the small screen, so seeing it on the big screen was worthwhile.

My only gripe, and it is small, is that the Decpticons were all so drab and dreary colored and so very easily confused for one another. Even Megatron, which is a bit saddening since he was very much NOT the kind to blend in the cartoons. I realize it makes sense, what with them being evil and what with them being based on military/police vehicles. I just think they could have done better at making them more individualized in robot form.

painted_wolf and I had to the movie. She was all "Oooh, Bumblebee! Aaaah, Optimus Prime! Cool, Starscream!" I was all "Ooooh, A-10 Thunderbolt (Warthog)! Aaaah, AC-130 AWACS! Cool, F-22s! And Blackhawks and Ospreys and ..." For someone who is so keen on peace, love and understanding, I have an odd fascination with military aircraft.

Okay, so beyond that,

ciliandis has loaned to me the first two books in Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events. I agree with her metaphor that they are indeed literary potato chips, and I would say they are very tasty to the mind. I finished the first book last night. I must say I enjopy the books so much more than the movie. Not that the movie was bad: it just had to fit so much into less time. I'm looking forward to reading more!

Today we're going to hang out with

ciliandis before work. It should be fun! I'm going to upgrade her computer (well, actually replace it, but that's a whole different matter) and while in progress we're going to play games and/or watch stuff. Yay!
