I haven't cooked a boiled dinner in so long. *drool* It was so tasty. Everything came out so perfect, which is gratifying since I forgot one of the key ingredients: cabbage. The potatoes were perfectly tender, as were the parsnips, carrots and onions. The flavor was just right. Even the peppercorns came out so tender I couldn't help but eat them with my potatoes and onions. I must do this again soon. Kathy keeps bugging me to put turnip in it so I guess I'll have to try it.
On the subject of trying, I have spent the bulk of the day listening to some of the recommended music that people and Audioscrobbler have given me. First, since it was a personal recommendation, I want to thank
merrick42 for recommending Adam Brodsky. I particularly liked Uncivil Rights!
I checked out some of the independent stuff Audioscrobbler recommended first. I started with Rasputina. I love the cello! I was quite impressed with their covers, like "Barracuda," "Wish You Were Here," "Fire and Ice" and "Torniquet." I like the latter better than Marilyn Manson's original!
Then I finally got around to listening to some NOFX. I've been hearing about this group since I was in or just barely out of high school and I only now listened because a web site said I should. Sheesh! But of course I liked it. I want to get "War on Errorism."
Now I'm listening to Nightwish, a Finnish metal band. I really like it. It has a very dramatic feel. It reminds me at times of Tristania. At times it also reminded me of Dream Theater. And you've gotta love a metal band that uses harpsichord. The male and female vocalists work quite well with each other.
Again I welcome folks to leave me recommendations for some listening material. I know you all listen to music. I'm quite open minded. Plus if you're into independent artists, check out
declare_indies.
Audioscrobbler is recommending I listen to Dio. If it only knew... My entire Dio collection is on vinyl.
