Friday Meme
Oct. 12th, 2007 10:23 pmI snagged this Friday meme from
nepenthe01:
"What five things would your sixteen year old self find most surprising about your life since then"?
1.) That I am in a committed relationship. I figured I would never find anyone. You can't imagine how shocked I was when one person asked me out! Beyond that I tried many times but always met with rejection, so I just resigned myself to never finding anyone.
2.) The changes I'm making in my life. Nothing more said on that.
3.) My current job. I was very anti-political and isolationist. If I knew then that I would now be a) working for a municipal government and b) actively engaged in political discussion, debate and activism I would have been flabbergasted!
4.) The amount of public speaking I do now as part of my job and political activities. I was absolutely petrified of public speaking back then.
5.) That I'm still alive. I figured I would get mildly famous as a musician and die young like Jim Morrison or Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin, which is particularly peculiar considering they were all drug/alcohol related deaths and I was mostly sober and insisted on staying that way. I guess I would have been more likely to end like Mama Cass. Damned sandwiches.
