Stayin' Alive

I'm getting better at driving the Sidekick. I'm still a bit rough going from first to second gear and my downshifts are sloppy, but otherwise it's smoothing out. It's been about two years since I've driven a standard. I just hope I don't beat the hell out of the clutch.
I worked at the channel and at PDG today. The channel was the usual stuff: swap tapes, time out new videos, update the bulletin board, cue the next round of videos for the week.
PDG was a brief couple hours dedicated to finishing up a rebuild of an online store. It's been a real pain in the ass. First of all, it's for a deadbeat, crabby client who we're just trying to get in working order before giving the boot. But osCommerce is being a real terror. We finally resolved to completely rebuild the database from scratch because we just couldn't solve the mystery of new orders not showing up in the admin area even though they were written to the database. All evidence pointed to corrupt data that was screwing everything else up. We got the new database working in a testbed catalog. Then I installed the modified USPS shipping module that we've been using on the existing site and it just wouldn't play nice. Everything is configured identical, but still I get error messages and am unable to progress with the shopping cart beyond shipping.
Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb.
So tomorrow I get to go in and pull some more hair out to augment my receding hairline. Yippy skippy! But I'm not complaining, really. It keeps me off the streets. Besides, later in the day I'll get to suck in all kinds of gasoline fumes when I siphon the gas from my dead van for reuse in the new vehicles.
