I'm so lucky to work with and for the people I do. Today I got to take home a functioning Apple LaserWriter 8500. It's freaking huge! And it prints 11x17. I got it printing from both the iMac and HP. Of course the iMac saw it right away without trouble. The HP with WinXP... well... it took some work. First I had to use the iMac to reconfigure the TCP/IP settings and change the IP address. Then I installed the drivers on the HP. It didn't work. I had to manually configure it to send raw data and then it worked just fine. But it's a network printer. Sweet!

I finally used last.fm for the first time and it picked some great tunes for me while I was at work. I was quite pleased. Audiscrobbler and last.fm rock my world! They just added a new server to Audiscrobbler so hopefully the recent troubles will start disappearing. I think I may contribute soon, depending on what I have for spending cash. It may have to wait a month.

{edit} Whoa! My Audioscrobbler profile finally caught up some! Of course, since I manually went in and added all the albums I own I have a bunch of mainstream stuff ranking high in my top artists, but that will only be temporary. As I listen to more that stuff will sink back down. Yay! {/edit}

Tomorrow I get my Bronco II. In a couple weeks I get the Suzuki Sidekick. It's going to be nice having a couple dependable vehicles on the road. It'll be even nicer once Kathy gets her license and starts driving herself for a change.

I just watched on the news as Bush stated (in response to the photo of Saddam in his undies in The Sun) that it wouldn't "inspire murderers" and that these muderers (the insurgents) are "inspired by an ideology that is so barbaric and foreign to westerners."

WTF?!?!?!

Oh, sure. I have no idea why they would want the tyrannical US out of their country. I have no idea what could drive them to fight our troops fiercely until they leave. It's not like we did the same thing oh, say, about 230 years ago. You know, 1776. Is the average American so naive as to buy this heavy load of shit? Are we as a society so dumb and, As George Santayana warned, doomed to repeat history because we have forgotten?

To my fellow Americans:
Whether or not you know, understand and/or choose to accept it, we are a nation founded on terrorism by insurgents. The terrorist acts were many, including completely ignoring the "civilised" rules of war at the time. The Boston Tea Party? Fort William and Mary? John the Painter? The Minutemen were our insurgents. As were our militia. These were family men, farmers, serving time to fight the tyrannical rule of the Imperialist British.

Have we come this far only to become the red coats?
